After noon Kevin, Pierre, and I went out for a walk. We walked into Antoine along the way who was selling pastries for some sort of Party they have in the region of Rhone where everyone who has a 0 at the end of their age is celebrated... so 10, 20, 30, etc... It's like a special birthday every decade.
The village is so cute, everyone knows everyone, there's horses, sheep, pigs, chickens, you name it.... and it's also the maker of a type of wine called, "Beaujolais". Apparently it's at it's best when it's young. We walked up a mountain and relaxed on a rock with a superb view of the village. I think I had one of those surreal moments where you really appreciate all your surroundings.
Anyways we ate this amazing lunch, Scalloped Patatoes, Steak, Cheese, Wine and bread. Now I understand why they eat so late at night, they have huge lunches.
We then brought Pierre to the Train Station in Tarare so he can take the train home (he lives in the next village), the road to get there is amazing... Give me a sports car and a full tank of gas, and I'll have myself quite some fun. There's twists and turns as we climb up and down the valley. You really have to be careful. If i remember tomorow, I'll take a video of the road and post it on Youtube...
Tonight there's a game between Lyon & Lorient. Since we religiously watch foot here, it's a safe bet that we won't miss a minute of the game.
So I leave you with some pictures I took today:

Hi, Martin,
We phoned to wish you Bon Voyage in Jan. but you had already left for the airport. Tonight we finally sat down to catch up with your blog. It sounds like you are having a great time and have met some great friends. It is amazing that you have already got to visit in someone's home and see the real France off the tourists' path. Good for you. Have a interesting trip to Monaco. It is always very exciting to meet someone you know in a place so far from home.
We are getting pretty excited as Natalie comes home next week and we haven't seen her for 11 months. Won't she be freezing! Erika will probably come home in late May. We type back and forth on Skype when Erika is at work and talk as well but the 12 hour time difference makes it difficult. Are you on Skype? We will read with love and pride of your further adventures. Love, Uncle Mike and Auntie Judy P.S. One thing Judy does not understand - you didn't dance before-and you still had girlfriends?
Hey Martin!
I think it's amazing that you got to visit your friend's village out of Lyon...what an experience (by the way, thanks for finally posting pictures of the guys!) I think of you every day and always wonder what you're up to. On Friday night I went to a party with people I met at Dawson. I'm having the time of my life. Meeting so many new people! And today I went snowboarding at St-So with 2 guys from Dawson that I only met a week ago, Mat and Omes. They're really nice people I get along with them so well!
Can't wait to read your next blog

Hi Partner,
You have no idea how happy I am to see that you are having a great time. The countryside looks beautiful and sometimes, yeah, you have to say "wow I'm actually here" and you hope that that image stays imbedded in your mind. They sound like really nice people. Today I'm going to visit Oma and I printed out your blog for her to read. Sounds like you're becoming a real "foot" fan. How is your course in C++ going? A bit of big news here on Friday was that Ubisoft is hiring an additional 1500 jobs here in Quebec I believe. They must be doing very well. Meme is all smiles. She loves Dawson. I can see the weather there is much different there than it is here. You're lucky - no snow.
That's it for now, talk to you this week.
Love you very much.
Mom
P.S. Martin: We got a message from Blockbuster at home saying that we need to bring an item back and no one in the family rented anything at Blockbuster...did you possibly rent something from there with your friends before leaving?
